The National MS Society offers a long list of criteria by which people can diagnose their own MS symptoms. For a long time, there has been confusion about the use of these questions when seeking to identify someone who has MS. Recently, a study published in the Journal of Nervous Disorders claimed that many people incorrectly diagnosed with MS actually have fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome, making it impossible for them to correctly pinpoint the cause of their pain. MS and Fibromyalgia often co-occur, making it extremely difficult for the patient to accurately distinguish the symptoms that come on during MS attacks from those that occur naturally.

According to the US National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, MS is a type of auto-immune disorder in which the immune system tends to attack the brain's neurons causing inflammation around the spinal cord and other parts of the central nervous system. MS symptoms can be nearly anything, ranging from extremely painful to non-painful. Some MS symptoms are also found in other medical conditions such as osteoporosis, Lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, strokes, and multiple sclerosis. In addition to pain, MS sufferers report problems with vision and speech difficulties. There are currently no medications or methods available that can specifically treat MS symptoms, but there is hope that it may one day be possible to find an effective combination of drugs and lifestyle changes that can cure or at least ease most of its symptoms.

Several different categories of MS symptoms exist. The most common multiple sclerosis symptoms are widespread pain throughout the body, often extreme in both intensity and frequency. This is typically manifested as pain in the arms, shoulders, legs, or buttocks, and fatigue. While some sufferers do experience numbness, it is often confined to only one or two areas and is often only present when doing specific activities. The majority of MS sufferers will also report problems with balance and gait, as well as difficulty breathing.

Another set of common symptoms includes widespread fatigue. MS can be very debilitating for those who are not used to it. With MS, your ability to think and concentrate can be greatly impaired, so it's important to have regular restful sleeps and feed your mind and body with nutritious food. Many individuals with MS also experience bladder problems that can be alleviated by increasing liquids in the diet.

Another set of MS symptoms involves relapsing Ms. Relapsing MS is a condition where a person with MS suddenly begins to relive their symptoms. It can occur several times an hour for several days or weeks on end. Relapses can occur anywhere from once to several times a week for several months. Relapses often occur when a sufferer is stressed, frustrated, tired, or feeling run down.

When relapsing MS occurs, most people will notice that they feel extremely tired and weak. It is common for those with MS to become irritable and aggressive. Because MS makes it hard to focus or concentrate, those affected with the disease often have a low self esteem. Because relapsing MS is such a common occurrence for those with MS, those who suspect that they might have it should seek medical attention as soon as possible. There is no known cure for multiple sclerosis, but there are ways to treat the symptoms of the disease. Those who have MS symptoms that cause them to relive their symptoms can take medication that is designed to control these multiple sclerosis symptoms or they can find other ways to deal with the multiple sclerosis symptoms that they experience.

MS is believed to be caused by a variety of different symptoms. Those who have MS tend to have higher stress levels than the average individual, which is one reason that relapsing MS is so common. Stress can be difficult to manage, but those who have MS are also likely to experience depression because they are unable to find a way to relax. In order to treat both the symptoms of MS and depression, it's important for someone with MS to seek treatment. Sometimes just having a diagnosis of MS is enough to begin treatment and the medication that can help manage the effects of MS without any medications.

When someone notices that they may have MS symptoms, they need to go to the doctor as soon as possible for a proper diagnosis. The earlier that someone can get help for their symptoms, the better their chances of living a normal life. If someone notices that they have first signs of MS, they should seek the advice of a medical professional right away. This will help ensure that a proper diagnosis is made and that a proper treatment plan can be put into place. Anyone who has first signs of MS need to learn about the different symptoms of MS and make sure that they are able to tell their doctors what they are experiencing.
